Terms used across Find Me a Ref and grassroots officiating generally, in plain English.
- Association
- A league or governing body using Find Me a Ref to run its own fixtures, referees and payments. Called "League administrator" in the product's on-screen labels.
- League administrator
- The person managing an Association's account: posting fixtures, allocating referees, verifying credentials, and overseeing payments across the league.
- Fixture
- A single match or game, with a date, time, venue, category and fee.
- Fixture category
- A League administrator-defined grouping for fixtures (e.g. "Junior Match", "Cup Match"), each with its own default fee and, optionally, additional officiating roles.
- Additional official
- An officiating role alongside the primary referee for a fixture, e.g. an assistant referee or second umpire, configured per fixture category and assigned and paid separately.
- Auto-assign
- Automatic allocation of a newly posted fixture to the closest available referee, with no scheduling conflict. Available on Pro and Plus plans.
- Travel radius
- The distance a referee is willing to travel from their base location, used to match them to nearby open fixtures.
- Transaction fee
- A percentage of the referee fee and travel expenses, charged to the club at checkout on every paid fixture, on top of an Association's monthly plan.
- Starter, Pro, Plus, Enterprise
- An Association's subscription tier. Starter is free with manual assignment only; Pro and Plus add CSV bulk import and auto-assign; Enterprise is a custom contact-us plan.
- Verified referee
- A referee whose credentials have been checked and confirmed by a League administrator, recorded with who checked, when, and what was reviewed.
- Guardian consent
- Confirmation from a parent or guardian, recorded at sign-up, allowing a referee aged 14-17 to use the platform and setting out how they're paid.
- Payout account
- A referee's connected account, set up entirely within the app, that receives their share of a fixture payment automatically once a club pays.
- Instant Payout
- An optional add-on letting a referee move their available balance to a debit card in around 30 minutes, for a small fee, instead of waiting for the standard payout schedule.
- Club
- The team, or group of teams, that plays fixtures and pays the referee fee once a fixture is settled. Always free to use; clubs only ever pay the per-fixture transaction fee.
- Coverage gap
- The set of upcoming fixtures that still have no referee assigned, surfaced as a summary on a League administrator's dashboard so nothing gets missed.
- CSV bulk import
- Pasting a whole list of fixtures, or clubs, in at once rather than adding them one at a time. Available on Pro and Plus plans.
